MacTaggart Scott are looking to grow our Test department with the addition of a Test Supervisor. The purpose of the role is to provide management of testing activities and the associated team of Test Technicians and Fitters. Based at head office, the Test Supervisor will provide leadership to the test team to ensure all aspects of equipment testing are performed to the highest standards. Occasional visits to ships, customer or supplier sites may be required.
Departmental Management
* Ensure Health and Safety aspects are maintained to the highest standards and the provision of a safe working environment
* Day to day responsibility for the planning and delegation of work in line with operations planning schedules to meet customer requirements and project timelines
* Supervise all test processes in line with the work to list/customer schedule, engineering drawings and best practice guidance
* Ensure all equipment in department is properly procured, maintained, stored and calibrated as applicable
* Ensure work is completed within the estimated timescales and collaborate with operations planning to assist with the correct estimate of time needed for different finishing
* Ensure good housekeeping i.e. promote a clean safe working environment/tidy workstations, wearing of PPE
Business Operations
* Liaise and communicate with other departments as necessary building strong working relationships across the business
* Continually look for ways in which to improve processes
* Problem solve and plan to achieve goals and meet department targets
* Undertake and complete any other duties as necessary within the department
Line Management
* Responsible for training needs analysis, and developing and managing the departmental plans that ensure appropriate levels of skills and flexibility are maintained within the department
* Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to team members
* Ensure all leave and return to work processes are adhered to
Budget
* Ensure daily operations and consumables are provisioned in line with budgets
* Provide inputs to Capex budget planning identifying and executing departmental investments
Requirements
* Demonstrable experience leading teams of Technicians and Fitters.
* Time served technician with a proven track record working on complex hydro-mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems.
* Be self-motivated, with experience of managing their own and others’ workloads.
* Have a good working knowledge of general IT tools including MS Office
* Ability to demonstrate strong leadership behaviors
