About the Higher Level Teaching Assistant role This advert is for a specific placement we will offer the successful candidate. This advert being live means this placement is still available. Located in Uxbridge, Hillingdon Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm Salary: £26,000 per year End date: 31st August 2025 - this may continue next academic year Key Stage 3 pupils (with some working well below age-related expectations) Needing support in English / Literacy, Maths / Numeracy, life skills and social skills Requires a caring and intuitive HLTA who can support pupils with their academic and social needs A unique working environment where you collaborate with our team and support network to make every lesson / role a success The educational setting is an ASEND provision which: Caters for local pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities ( SEND ) who are movers in to the borough, between school places or not attending school for reasons relating to their SEN or are between school places with a delay in their start date in the new school. We provide these pupils with continued engagement in learning, develop and build a routine to assist them in transitioning to their new school when it starts. There is a high staff to pupil ratio meaning each pupil has a highly positive and child centred learning experience. The day is broken into two halves with a morning session and an afternoon session. Each session has a small group of 4 students and each group has different needs. HLTAs have support from their respective class teachers to tailor the curriculum to each child’s specific needs whilst adhering to the overall curriculum being pursued. This gives the HLTAs a chance to expand on their experience with SEN. This role will involve working closely in a team, employing own initiative and intuition along with providing child-centred support focussed on engaging them and nurturing their wellbeing. About our ideal SEND Mentor Essential Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this for you) Experience, knowledge, and understanding of safeguarding processes A person-centred approach in your work A passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement You must work in a way that promotes the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
