Portsmouth Water is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our respected Finance Department.
In this role, the Project Accountant will collaborate closely with our Transformation Programme Office (TMO) to provide expert financial performance analysis, track the realisation of project benefits, and conduct detailed cost-benefit evaluations. This position also involves offering specialised advice on accounting treatments, ensuring seamless alignment between project management tools (FLUID) and the wider ERP System (IFS) for accurate financial reporting.
A key focus of this role will be acting as the main Finance contact for the completion of our CRM Project, overseeing the transition of finance-related processes to a steady, business-as-usual state. Additionally, the Project Accountant will manage business partnering for various support functions, including IT, People, and Finance, helping ensure these areas are well-supported in achieving their objectives.

What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities:
* Work cross-functionally between the Transformation PMO and Finance to provide accurate, timely and insightful reporting on financial performance, risks and opportunities.
* Ensure that financial reporting needs are met in relation to any transformation projects.
* Ensure alignment in financial reporting between Fluid and IFS.
* Act as a subject matter expert regarding the financial reporting and treatment of project costs.
* Provide inputs to FP&A Manager to maintain financial modelling tools to ensure accuracy and integrity.
* Work with the FP&A Manager to provide inputs for scenario-based modelling.
* Fully support budget holders within the support functions through the annual budget and reforecasting processes including explaining and adhering to relevant targets and deadlines, analysis and alignment with non-financial cost drivers and targets, working closely with the business to deliver on time and meaningful budgets for consolidation by the FP&A Manager.
* Providing relevant inputs into the company’s 5-year plan (PR24) and support Price Reviews and assessment of performance throughout the AMP.
* Working closely with stakeholders on ad-hoc requests.
* Escalate risks and opportunities which are supported by the relevant analysis to internal stakeholders including Finance and Regulations.
* Support year end audit and reporting as required.
* Manage and mentor the business partner reporting into this role.
* Work collaboratively across the finance function to deliver outputs on time.
What do you need?
Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree.
* Chartered Accountant or equivalent experience.
* Industry or Corporate Finance background, with Treasury and Project Accounting experience.
* Strong analytical, strategic, and commercial thinking skills.
* Excellent communicator, skilled in presenting clearly to stakeholders.
* Proven business partnering abilities.
* Advanced Excel and data modelling skills (Power BI or similar).
* Proactive, organised, with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to prioritise effectively.
