Events Manager
The Role
There is an exciting opportunity for an Events Manager to join our family. You will be the face of The Fellows House to our local community. You will use your local knowledge to create and execute interesting and intriguing events; some of which will be by invitation, some will be revenue-generating, and some will be aimed at our community.
We are looking for someone who is driven, innovative, intuitive, and collaborative in their approach to event planning. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of Cambridge, the university, and its colleges to design and implement a successful marketing and events programme for The Fellows House. You will drive community and guest engagement within the property and generate business for our F&B offering through leading internal and external events.
The successful candidate will enjoy sharing knowledge and have a genuine interest in the past and present Fellows of the University.
Key responsibilities
* Organising & hosting events within The Fellows House.
* Leading external business development with stakeholders.
* Researching opportunities for events hosted within The Fellows House.
* Completing local research with the view to growing the business.
* Producing detailed proposals for events including timelines, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing, and budgets.
* Maintaining an updated calendar of internal events over a 6-12 month period, and contributing to the Cambridge Calendar of Events.
* Working in tandem with the marketing team to ensure our events are well known.
* Coordinating suppliers, handling client queries, and troubleshooting on the day of the event to ensure everything runs smoothly.
* Overseeing events accordingly.
* Being a driving force in the local community to maintain relationships with stakeholders.
* Completing a post-event evaluation form.
* Attending city-wide networking and external events.
* Working closely with the Marketing, Sales, F&B, and Customer Experience teams to plan and execute events as part of integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns.
* Contributing content to be distributed through our social media channels in line with The Fellows House and Hilton brand guidelines, ensuring content is updated regularly and remains engaging with relevant audiences.
* Creatively creating newsletters, blogs, case studies, flyers, and adverts while maintaining the company brand standards and values.
* Maintaining and developing relations while working alongside the sales and F&B teams.
* Supporting the Director of Sales & F&B team with the creation of marketing plans/campaigns with SMART objectives.
Core requirements:
* UK citizen or valid work permit.
* Knowledge of Cambridge.
* Able to act as an ambassador for the company, protecting and promoting its good name and reputation at all times.
* Ability to use all Microsoft Office applications to an excellent standard with advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills – friendly, approachable, and professional.
* Ability to work well with and coach non-finance professionals.
* Confident communicator with the ability to relate to team members at all levels.
* Excellent planning, time management, and organisational skills.
* Excellent written skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to produce reports and present statistical information.
