Band 2 Ward Clerk (General Surgical Unit) - Full Time / Part Time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward clerk to join our busy admin team within the General Surgical Unit.
Full Time / Part Time hours considered.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can work both well within a team and can also demonstrate the ability to use own initiative.
The role of a ward clerk requires good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative.

Main duties of the job
* To answer calls in a polite manner, ensuring all relevant messages are relayed to the appropriate team.
* Greet all visitors to the ward in a helpful and polite manner.
* To assist with any enquiries.
* Maintain accurate patient records including admission, transfer and discharge information on the Trust's Electronic Patient Record system.
* To organise patient porters and transport bookings.
* To participate in ensuring ward cleanliness and tidiness.
* Maintain stock/supplies in accordance with ward requirements.

Job responsibilities
* To provide a reception service, acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face-to-face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
* To facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
* To input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges onto our electronic patient record (EPR) system.
* To provide an efficient administration and clerical service to the ward staff, visitors and patients.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard (Maths & English) or equivalent
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and IT skills
* Conversant with EPR (Electronic Patient Record)
* Previous administrative experience in an unsupervised capacity
* Experience of working in a healthcare environment
