We are looking for dedicated Software and DevOps engineers to join our team in Cambridge or Manchester. This role has significant impact in improving the engineering experience at Arm!
Productivity Engineering supplies the tools and systems needed for creation of our software and hardware IP. Within this group, the Software & DevOps function provides DevOps tooling used across the company’s engineering population, as well as focusing on the tooling needs of software engineers.
As a Staff Engineer at Arm you will lead sophisticated technical deliveries, working with stakeholders, project management and engineers to define scope, requirements, resourcing, and plans needed for delivery.

Responsibilities:
Working hands-on with a variety of technologies, to provide a first-class engineering experience for Arm's hardware and software engineers. The domains and areas include:
1. Software builds and test solutions using CI/CD, binary, secret, and test management.
2. Developing services using SaaS, cloud-based environments, and large-scale clustered compute.
3. Exploiting virtualization and cloud technologies using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
4. Engineering experience – improving the daily life and productivity of engineers across Arm.
Our varied activities involve development, and operational work. We support and guide the engineering community on how best to utilise the services we offer. Developments range from minor improvements to multi-month strategic projects. We invest significant time collaborating with other engineering teams at Arm.
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Extensive experience of Linux based infrastructure design, provisioning, and maintenance.
2. A deep knowledge of Cloud services. Experience of at least one of the following: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
3. Demonstrable experience in Infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet.
4. Common SDLC tools – such as Jenkins, Artifactory, GitLab.
5. Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD).
6. Interpreted languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl) and compiled languages (e.g. Golang, C, C++, Java).
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
1. Experience working in a Platform Engineering environment, with the associated focus on developer experience and productivity, and the ethos of enabling self-service access to infrastructure and systems through automation.
2. A strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
3. An active interest in Open-Source Software.
4. Building or integrating with Internal Developer Portals (Backstage/React/TypeScript).
5. Experience of Microservice Software development.
