Job Overview:
To provide efficient and effective financial support to meet the charity’s operational and strategic financial requirements. Working as part of the finance team, alongside the Head of Finance and Finance Assistant, the Finance Officer will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial processes, support compliance with financial regulations, and contribute to effective financial management and reporting. The role also involves collaborating with other teams to support overall financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management and Reporting:
Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and assist with budget monitoring and financial claims to external funding bodies.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and year-end accounts.
Assist the Head of Finance with preparing budget reports and providing analysis for decision-making.
Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process and oversee the coding and reconciliation of purchase ledger invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.
Prepare and process weekly payment runs, ensuring compliance with financial procedures.
Review and reconcile debtor and creditor accounts, and manage credit control activities.
3. Payroll and Pensions:
Assist with payroll processing and ensure accurate reconciliation of payroll records.
Liaise with external payroll providers as required.
4. Compliance and Auditing:
Maintain compliance with financial regulations, including HMRC requirements and charity standards.
Support external audits and ensure accurate record-keeping for audit purposes.
Maintain and update financial policies and ensure adherence to best practices.
5. Systems and Processes:
Maintain financial systems, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
Provide training and support to staff on financial processes and systems.
Maintain up-to-date registers of supplier contracts, equipment inventory, and gift aid records.
6. Premises Management and Health and Safety:
Support the Head of Finance in managing premises-related activities, including utility and supplier contracts.
Assist with health and safety duties as required.
7. General Duties:
Ensure services align with the organisation’s values and objectives.
Undertake other duties commensurate with the role as required by the Head of Finance.
Contribute to continuous improvement of financial operations.
Participate in the wider work of Community Resource as required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £11,055.00 per year
