About Us
We are the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, the only UK-wide charity dedicated solely to tackling child sexual abuse. Our vision is a world in which childrens rights to live free from abuse and exploitation becomes a reality.
In 2002, we established our confidential Stop It Now! UK & Ireland helpline, for anyone with concerns about child sexual abuse and its prevention. This programme, which is run in partnership with government and charitable trusts, is the largest of its kind in the world.
Our experienced advisors speak to thousands of people every year, helping them take action to protect children and young people from sexual abuse and exploitation.
We are now looking for a Head of Communications and Advocacy to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week.
The Benefits
- Salary of £45,000 to £48,000 per annum, dependent on experience
- 33 days’ holiday per year inclusive of bank holidays, increasing to 38 after the qualifying period

The Role
As our Head of Communications and Advocacy, you will oversee the development and implementation of our integrated advocacy and communications strategy.
Leading our communications team, you will transform insights from our services and research into powerful campaigns across all our channels to drive awareness and action in the prevention of child sexual abuse.
Acting as a key ambassador, you will build strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance our influence and reach, as well as provide expert advice on high-profile and sensitive issues, strengthening our voice within the sector and increasing engagement with our work.
Additionally, you will:
1. Represent the charity externally at local, national, and international levels
2. Manage a busy press office, ensuring high-impact media coverage
About You
To be considered as our Head of Communications and Advocacy, you will need:
1. Experience leading integrated communications campaigns
2. Experience managing a team across a communications function and developing talent
3. Experience overseeing media relations and securing high-impact press coverage
4. The proven ability to manage sensitive and high-profile issues with professionalism and tact
5. Strong writing skills with experience in creating creative and accurate content
6. Confidence in building partnerships and acting as a trusted advisor to senior colleagues
7. A positive leadership style that inspires and motivates team members
