About the role
As a Finance Analyst within a small Finance Department, you will play a critical role in providing financial analysis and support primarily (but not exclusively) to the Technology Function and the Technology Finance Business Partner, and various stakeholders within Nominet. Your primary responsibility will be conducting financial analysis, preparing reports, and providing insights to support decision-making and financial planning.
1. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
o Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.
o Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and financial performance metrics.
o Perform month end and year end closing activities, including journal entries primarily (but not exclusively) relating to Technology Function.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Assist in the development of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial plans for assigned business units.
o Monitor actual performance against budget/forecast, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
o Assist with system enhancements and implementation of financial software/tools.
3. Financial Performance Management:
o Monitor key financial performance indicators and provide analysis and insights on business unit performance.
o Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate them effectively to the relevant stakeholders.
o Evaluate the financial impact of proposed projects, initiatives, new contracts, and capex investments.
4. Stakeholder Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business unit leaders and department heads.
o Assist in the preparation of presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
o Collaborate with finance accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to stakeholders.
o Support ad-hoc initiatives and projects as required.
About you and your experience
* Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
* Working towards a professional certification such as ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
* Experience as a finance analyst or similar role (Technology industry-specific experience is a plus).
* Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and Microsoft Excel.
* Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems (e.g. Oracle NetSuite).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication and presentation abilities.
* Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
* Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
