About the Role
Base Location: Reading preferred; however, we will consider your base 'home' location to be one of our other SSEN offices or depots in England. Please note, the role will require travel to locations throughout South Central England.
Salary: £46,626 - £54,154 + car/car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full time | Flexible First options available - there will be a need to regularly travel within our licence area.
Our Distribution System Operator directorate has an exciting opportunity within our Flexible Solutions Team as a Project Engineer to support the delivery and commissioning of equipment to enable Distributed Energy Resources to connect Flexibly onto our network.
Your responsibilities will be to deliver the engineering elements across multiple live projects, actively identifying and resolving problems, managing risks, customer engagement and delivering successful project completion while working with project managers to ensure allocated budget and customer satisfaction targets are met.
You will be able to analyse network topography and technical customer design requirements to inform decisions on implementing solutions, feeding your knowledge back into the team. Other duties in the role will include:
1. Reviewing and approving customer, and internal, technical design documents.
2. Providing excellent customer service to guide customers on technical aspects.
3. Planning and coordinating work activities, including contractors, to install equipment for our customer connections.
4. Managing and configuring Remote Terminal Units (RTU's) Controllers, and other intelligent electronic devices, to implement functional logic and associated small wiring.
5. Following test procedures to commission RTU's and ensure logic is functioning correctly.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
1. Experience of meeting customer connection timelines, quality, safety and cost parameters, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of progression and financial performance.
2. Excellent use of Microsoft Office Suite.
3. A good understanding of the distribution electrical network and the fundamental principles of electrical power engineering.
4. Experience of working with Programmable Logic Controllers, RTU's or similar devices is preferred.
5. Have, or be working towards, EHV switching authorisations.
An understanding of Flexibility Services and Connections would be advantageous.
