Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, skilled doctor to join our cardiology team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTHTR). This post is based at Royal Preston Hospital (RPH). This is a replacement appointment and the successful applicant will work closely as part of a dynamic cardiology team within the trust as a Cardiology Specialty Doctor. The roles will be to provide support to the delivery of invasive and non-invasive cardiology practices at Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital and Royal Preston Hospital. The post holder will be given the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of cardiology, with encouragement for personal and professional development over a three year plan of development.
Main duties of the job
You will participate actively in the training of medical staff on both sites, providing both in-service and organised training of high quality, reflecting the ambition of the trust to develop its teaching and academic activities within the newly appointed cardiology firm.
You will also be responsible for middle grade support to the Consultant Cardiologists. A suitably qualified candidate may wish to contribute to the temporary pacing rota.
There are monthly departmental clinical meetings covering echocardiography and clinical cases.
The trust supports the requirements for continuing medical education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
The post holder will receive the full support of the trust and the division to develop specialist areas of interest in line with divisional business plans and the development of services generally within the trust. The department is proud that previous incumbents have published and presented data in various meetings as a part of their professional development. Some of them have moved on to work as consultants. There will be a strong support for career advancement through application for ST training or CESR.
