Project Manager – Software
Reports to: Product Delivery Manager
Our client is a leading technology company with an innovative suite of products which are paving the way in speech to text capabilities. They are a London based Company with offices in New York and San Francisco. They are recognised worldwide for its disruptive view in the world of speech analysis. Their pending technologies which sit on top of GPU technology provides the fastest and most secure Speech to Text solution commercially available, turning phone calls, video and other audio into Smart Data. Their market focus is predominantly in the legal and financial areas. Some of their clients include several of the world’s top insurers and banks as well as Government Agencies from both the UK and US.
Role: Initially involves rolling out a communications surveillance platform that involves suppliers other than within the Company.
KEY SKILLS
1. Minimum 3/4 years of experience.
2. Robust character with experience of working with multiple projects.
3. Proven track record in Project Management.
4. Focus on setting realistic client expectations whilst maximizing quality and revenue.
5. Experience of delivering multiple software projects; Full SDLC; Agile.
6. Requirements gathering and spec writing.
This role will have a high profile across the organisation and as such the individual will have to be comfortable and confident at communicating with clients and colleagues at all management levels. Clear, concise communication is essential to ensure that progress is visible. Additionally, this person will need tact, diplomacy and international cultural awareness.
The Project Manager needs to understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the customer’s requirements, and work with all parties to deliver solutions that enable the organisation to achieve its goals. Working with a mix of UK and international colleagues – BA, Lead Architects, Developers, Testers, Product Managers, Sales staff – the role will suit a candidate who has high energy levels, wants to get on and enjoys a wide variety of activities and engagements daily.
The individual will be required to deliver the customer requirements for the product/service to a high standard, and to work as a liaison among all stakeholders (internal and external) in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements.
Project Management
1. Work closely with the business teams to understand customer requirements.
2. Ensure that the product backlog is accurate and up to date. Make sure it is clearly defined, ordered, maintained and visible to all stakeholders.
3. Agree the sprint goal with the development team – work with the team to ensure that requirements are fully understood and that the design/implementation meets the customer’s needs.
4. Ensure that any changes are carefully considered, with a good feel for requirement prioritization.
5. Manage stakeholder expectations; ensuring project progress is visible and clearly communicated to all.
6. Support the Project Director by creating and reviewing plans, escalating any project risks, potential impact.
7. Take responsibility for delivery on time and to plan, within cost and to the agreed specification.
8. Ensure the release documentation is completed; this includes release notes, quick start guides, user guides and training packs.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Essential
1. Experienced in managing multiple software projects end to end from requirements gathering through to implementation, release and support.
2. Proven experience of business analysis and requirements capture.
3. Creation of concise requirements documentation and specs.
4. Has experience interacting with external and internal customers, promoting solutions, facilitating requirements workshops.
5. Scoping deliverables.
6. Prioritizing work against the capability and capacity of the team.
7. Ability to engage with the development team, understand the solution and make informed decisions.
8. Strong effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
9. Agile delivery methods including Kanban and Scrum.
10. Risk Management, Issue Management and Change Management.
Desirable
1. Experience working in a software house / consultancy.
2. Experience working with 3rd Party Development Teams.
3. Delivery of solutions in a cloud environment.
4. Managing and designing SaaS services.
5. Development background or strong technical knowledge.
