At Adel Beck we care for 24 young people aged 10 to 18 who are referred to us following court proceedings, placed on remand, or sentenced to a period of detention, or because they need to be placed in secure accommodation for their own safety or the safety of others.
You will be responsible for the management of an eight bedded secure children’s home support ted by 21 residential staff. You will oversee the quality of care for young people as well as developing your team to ensure that they are solution fussed and trauma informed practitioners who are committed to working within a multidisciplinary service.

About the role
As our next Team Manager, you will:-
8. Contribute proactively to the positive development of your home and Adel Beck as a whole.
9. Develop residential practitioners to deliver person centred, emotional and trauma informed care.
10. Ensure that staff are rota’d, deployed effectively, efficiently, and economically.
11. Assess individual needs and provide appropriate interventions to meet the level of the complex issues and risks associated with the behaviours identified.
12. Develop and sustain effective working and information sharing protocols with colleagues and external partner agencies to ensure an integrated service is provided, delivered and maintained.
13. Work alongside the homes Head Teacher, Health Care Lead and Casework and Interventions Manager in coordinating, monitoring and attending all reviews for the young people, ensuring these are scheduled and held within timescales.

All staff are required to support the Home’s main purpose of encouraging and enabling children and young people to develop attitudinally, behaviourally, educationally and emotionally in order that they may deliver positive contributions to their families, society and their local communities whilst reducing offending, resulting in the decrease in victims of youth crime. To create and maintain a customer focused attitude and approach at all times that promotes positive relationships and generates a culture of openness and trust. To deliver efficient, effective and quality services by way of flexible working. To work together with colleagues from all other service areas within the home to provide and maintain a safe and secure living and learning environment that promotes the safety and welfare of children and young people in which they can prosper, develop and achieve. To foster, maintain and support pro-social behaviour, a restorative and solution focussed approach with, children, young people and colleagues.
Role: Totake the lead role in the day to day leadership and management of a House Unit in the provision of a safe and secure care trauma informed service for children and young people that meets with Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 Youth Justice Standards 2019 and complies with Leeds City Council and the homes policies, procedures and guidance.
To take a lead and active role in the lives of children and young people in assessing their needs and encouraging attitudinal and behavioural change through proactive and positive interaction maintaining a pro-social behaviour, restorative and solution focussed approach. To encourage and foster within the House Unit Staff Team a commitment to continuous growth and development and work in a trauma informed way.
Responsibilities:
22. To lead and manage a team of Senior Residential Practitioners, Residential Practitioners,
23. Assistant Residential Practitioners, Students in the delivery of a high-quality care service including risk assessment, risk management, care and interventions programmes that meet the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people.
24. To work collaboratively and restoratively with other operational managers within the home from education, health, care, business support and casework and interventions.
25. To work collaboratively and restoratively with external stakeholders and partners including SAN, NHSE, UKHSA, DfE, YCS, YOTS and SW’s.
26. To, act as the home’s Duty Manager/Senior Point of Contact on a rota basis.
27. To lead, motivate, provide effective and supportive management responses and guidance to staff.
28. To take a lead in the provision of a safe and stimulating trauma informed environment which provides for assessment, care, education and health of children and young people nurturing their emotional and physical wellbeing.
29. Ensure the staff team plan, deliver, and participate in opportunities for enrichment, recreational and/or vocational development of children and young people.
30. Take a lead, constructive and proactive role in addressing and managing the challenging behaviour presented by children and young people.
31. To take a lead proactive role in the admission process, through care and transition of children and young people to their next placement or return to the community.
32. Maintain and where necessary develop robust quality assurance, audit systems, Policy, Procedure and Guidance providing analysis and constructive feedback to managers and practitioners. This will include providing a monthly operational report to the Deputy Service Manager (Care)
33. Ensure Security, Safeguarding Policy and Procedures are implemented and followed by the team and colleagues.
34. Take a lead in organising, deploying and managing staff ensuring work patterns and rotas are maintained providing cover at all times to meet the needs of the service.
35. Keep up to date with local and national developments in respect of the assessment of children and young people in the criminal justice system and more widely.
36. To participate in the recruitment, selection, induction, supervision, appraisal, training, development and support processes for staff. Ensure HR policies and procedures relating to managing staff are followed.
37. To be actively involved in OfSTED and CQC inspection processes by ensuring that those that you manage are well equipped to respond to inspectoral queries.
38. To physically restrain and control in line with approved restraint techniques, guidelines and procedure (training will be provided).
39. Take a lead in developing self and staff to enhance performance and practice through reflective practice and learning, share knowledge, best practice, promote ideas for innovation and improvement and use information to take effective decisions.
40. Ensure prior to using any equipment or undertaking an activity, a risk assessment is in place and a safety data sheet available if required.
41. In line with the Medication Policy and Procedure, administer and record prescribed and other medication and supervise Senior Residential Practitioners, Residential Practitioners, Assistant Residential Practitioners, Students in this activity.
42. Actively promote the effective use of resources and to manage appropriate financial resources within an identified budget following Council Financial Procedure Rules.
43. To take a lead in developing and sustaining effective working and information sharing protocols with colleagues and external partner agencies to ensure an integrated service is delivered and maintained.
44. Provide reports, minutes, maintain records, attend and chair meetings and reviews as required.
45. Take a lead in developing others to support the dissemination of Effective Practice, maintaining clear protocols and ensuring the team receives up to date information
46. Support and deliver care services by the use of current software programmes and packages.
47. To undertake any other duties that, are commensurate with the job evaluation outcome for this post.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualification for this post is Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce. The Level 3 Diploma replaces the previous Level 3 NVQ. Existing qualifications are still valid, and you will not need to retake qualifications. If you do not hold the QCF, Level 5, Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Services you must be willing to register to commence the course within 3 months of taking up your appointment and complete in a reasonable amount of time. You must also work towards QCF Assessors award.
