Flying Start Early Years Development Assistant
Salary: Grade 5 £26,835 to £30,060 per annum
Contract Type: Initial 6 month contract from start date, extension dependent on grant funding.
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week

We are currently looking for a Flying Start Early Years Development Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting our quality Childcare Settings as part of continued Flying Start expansion and development of Welsh language within the sector across Neath Port Talbot.
As part of the Early Years, Childcare and Flying Start Team, you will continue to enhance the quality of the childcare settings through the facilitation of workshops, training, and mentoring childcare staff in setting, focusing mainly on maintaining and developing the play environments in line with the new curriculum for early years and enhancing provision in line with ALN Reform.
The post holder will need to have experience of working within childcare, and a keen appreciation for the Early Years Curriculum in order to advise and develop the childcare settings.
Main duties of the post:
1. To support the development of a broad and balanced range of activities and experiences appropriate to the needs of two year olds in Flying Start settings.
2. To ensure that Flying Start settings are quality assured to meet the Flying Start Guidance as outlined by the Welsh Government.
3. To establish effective working relationships with the Flying Start childcare settings and ensure positive transition to education providers.
4. To work closely with multi-agencies and promote strategies to engage parents to participate in Flying Start.
You will have experience in/of:
* Working in a multi-agency way with a wide range of professionals
* Early Years Curriculum setting experience
Ideally you will have:
* A Level 5 or equivalent Early Years and Childcare qualification, as detailed on the Care Council for Wales List of Accepted Qualifications for the Early Years and Childcare Workforce in Wales, is essential for this post. Candidates currently working towards a Level 5 with considerable childcare and early years' experience may also be considered, along with school based qualifications with adequate experience within the early years sector.
Flying Start (FS) is a Welsh Government (WG) initiative, which seeks to target support for pre-school children and their families within identified areas, and to deliver specific outcomes for children.
