Job Description: Brodersen Outstation Telemetry Commissioning Engineer
Position Overview:
The Telemetry Outstation Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of Brodersen telemetry systems at various locations within the Thames valley. This role ensures that all systems are installed and functioning according to the required specifications and standards set out by the project team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Setup:
Supervise the electrical contractor appointed for the installation of telemetry systems at outstation sites.
Ensure all equipment is installed according to technical specifications and safety standards.
2. Testing and Commissioning:
Conduct thorough testing of telemetry systems to ensure operational efficacy in accordance with documentation in place.
Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the commissioning process.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
Carry out site installation preparation from the Peaks office located in Theale.
Prepare detailed reports on the commissioning process, including any issues encountered and solutions implemented.
Maintain accurate records of all installations and tests conducted and upload these onto the project SharePoint.
4. Client Interaction:
Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and ensure their needs are met.
Provide technical support to clients.
5. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations including risk assessments and method statements and implement safety measures as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in telemetry systems and related technologies.
Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
Experience with SCADA systems, Schneider ClearSCADA and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DF1).
Rockwell PLC & HMI experience.
2. Problem-Solving:
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Strong analytical skills to diagnose and fix system malfunctions.
3. Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
4. Experience:
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the water or utilities sector.
Familiarity with the commissioning process and project management principles.
5. Certifications:
Relevant certifications in electrical engineering or a related field.
Health and safety certifications, preference is given to candidates who have the following: Thames Water Passport and CSCS Card.
