Job summary
This role is set in a busy acute specialist nursing service, where the team manage and optimize care for people living with diabetes.
This post is for a band 7 nurse to support the inpatient diabetes specialist nurse service. You will need to have a good knowledge and confidence to manage this group of patients. You will demonstrate strong leadership skills and be able to manage staff cross site.
The post holder will be a key resource for other medical and nursing staff within the team, contributing to patient reviews and policy reviews.
There will be opportunities to work alongside clinicians who work in the renowned Leicester Diabetes Centre which conducts first class clinical research in diabetes.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide specialist diabetes advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers that are in hospital and act as a support for the team.
2. Supervision and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets and in accordance to NHS standards and guidelines.
3. To work alongside clinicians to implement Diabetes Care Accreditation Programme (DCAP) within the Trust.
4. Be willing to undertake audits and clinical supervision with the inpatient specialist nurse team.
