Job summary
To ensure the safe and effective operation of the Estate so that it remains fully fit for purpose.
To provide inspirational leadership to a large team of skilled multi-disciplinary trade staff and external contractors ensuring that they are efficiently and effectively deployed to deliver planned and reactive maintenance.
To deliver the maintenance plan to ensure that all hospital assets work when required in line with agreed budgets.
To be the focal point for effective communications with key internal and external stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
* Provide inspirational leadership to a large team of Directly Employed trade staff and contractors.
* Manage the performance of the team to ensure they deliver outstanding service within agreed budgets.
* Continuously explore ways to improve delivery to services, patients and visitors and through this achieve excellence in safety, service efficiency and effectiveness.
* Ensure that trade staff and contract resources are effectively planned and scheduled to optimise efficient delivery of work plans.
* Ensure that KPI reports outlining the performance of assets and resources are derived using the CAFM system.
* Ensure that the skills and competencies of trade staff and contractors are constantly developed to meet the needs of the future work plan, ensuring that the minimum resource is deployed necessary to complete the works and that non-productive time is minimised/eliminated.
* Ensure that resource deployment is managed in accordance with demand forecasts, that attendance is managed and accurately recorded and that skills and competencies are accurately recorded such that work scheduling is effective.
* Ensure all trade staff have their performance reviewed as part of the appraisal process and that poor performance is addressed.
* Manage the maintenance team to successfully implement change through the effective communication of compelling messages.
