If you have a caring and compassionate approach, and want to join a motivated, friendly and supportive team, we are keen to hear from you. We require staff who have a genuine interest in caring for critically ill patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as having excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
We provide a comprehensive learning package supported by the nationally recognised Critical Care competencies.
Previous Critical Care experience is not essential but desirable.
Interview date: TBC
• To ensure that an effective plan of care/care pathway is implemented and maintained for the patient.
• That the patient’s plan of care is reviewed, evaluated and update in accordance with the clinical condition and that all documentation is completed to the required standard.
• To assist in the setting and monitoring of standards of nursing care within the ward.
• To encourage the participation of the patient’s carer(s) in the assessment of care needs.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Southport Critical Care is a 5 bedded ITU, 6 bedded HDU and 4 bedded POCU unit. We offer support for multi organ failure and have invested in high performance technology and equipment to help with medical management and rehabilitation of critically ill patients.
