We offer fantastic benefits here Where you will be working Encyclis Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is located near Stewartby in Bedfordshire, just a few minutes off the M1 Motorway and only 20 minutes from Milton Keynes central. This impressive three-line facility has been operational since January 2022 and has the capacity to process 585,000 tonnes of residual waste annually, delivering sustainable electricity to meet the needs of around 112,000 homes. The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician will carry out routine, non-routine maintenance and breakdown repair activities safely, efficiently and in line with Encyclis procedures, whilst ensuring the facility is operationally compliant with the environment permit. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering the engineering health, integrity, performance and commercial availability of the plant in a safe, efficient manner and to complying with all legislation, regulations and policies. What we need from you… Key Duties & Responsibilities of the role The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for planned, preventative and reactive maintenance for mechanical assets and systems within the boundary of the ERF. Responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of all mechanical equipment and mobile plant at the facility within their own competence levels. Carry out hands on proactive and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with prescribed quality systems, procedures, risk assessments and OEM recommendations. Review OEM manuals and create maintenance documentation for plant equipment including, maintenance strategies, safe working procedures and technical specifications. Take an active role in the development and ongoing management of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for all maintenance activities. Contribute towards the planning and execution of outage work scopes and maintenance management systems. Utilise the site Management of Change process to capture all plant modifications. Provide adequate mechanical maintenance cover for proactive and reactive maintenance. Available to be called in during emergency situations and plant breakdowns when necessary. Ensure all tasks and projects are performed in accordance with work scopes and specification, whilst adhering with safe systems of work. Fully conversant with maintenance processes and techniques with the ability to plan, co-ordinate and execute planned outages. Implement the Written Scheme of Examination and Insurance Inspections in line with PSSR and LOLER regs. Promote and support the delivery of the Encyclis Safety Rules and Safe Systems of Work, and work in accordance with all ACOP, SMI and LMI to ensure we are setting people to work safely. Reporting any Health, Safety and Environmental unsafe conditions, accidents or incidents Develop and implement short and long term maintenance strategies in line with industry best practices and technical procedures. Develop and manage the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) ensuring work is managed and prioritised to avoid overdue tasks. Support the development and management of the spares inventory and workshop. Support Mechanical improvement processes, management of corrective actions, defect notifications and rectification, as well as carrying out effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) into major defects. Take ownership of plant cleanliness and ensure excellent standards of housekeeping are maintained. Promote and engage with the site H&S performance to include safety inspections, plant area responsibilities and partake in routine H&S meetings and forums. Collaborate with the operations team to deliver facility Key Performance Indicators. Education & Experience The preferred levels of education are a Higher National Diploma or National Vocational Qualification Level 4 or 3 in a technical or science subject. A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship is desirable. Relevant other qualifications with energy recovery or large process plant experience will be considered for the role. Ideally have at least 5 years hands on experience in a medium or large industrial facility. Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Industrial plant outage planning and execution is desirable. Experience in all aspects of mechanical maintenance and workshop activities. Want to know more about what we do?
