Torquemeters is a specialist Engineering company with a worldwide reputation as an innovator in low volume, high performance solutions for torque measurement, power transmission and test bed systems across various industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy and oil & gas.Reporting to: Engineering ManagerThe roleWhen undertaking an undergraduate placement at Torquemeters you will be involved across all areas of the Mechanical Engineering team as well as having exposure to other areas of the business though our undergraduate training program. The first couple of months will be spent following a project through all departments from front end Sales to preparation for shipping. You will then work within the Mechanical Engineering team on both development and commercial projects with support from other Engineers, the projects will be many and varied giving you a chance to continue interacting across various departments, products and processes.The role will be largely aligned with that of our Project Engineers who lead commercial projects at Torquemeters taking them from initial order through to commissioning. As a reasonably small business, you will have the opportunity to see every stage of the project lifecycle. Throughout your time at Torquemeters, you will be supported and mentored by other Engineers whilst still taking overall ownership of the projects that you are assigned. Where possible the projects will be tailored to the successful applicantspecific skillset.Work with the Engineering team to brainstorm and review potential Engineering solutions. Proactively consult with other internal departments and teams as requiredTake ownership of multiple Engineering development projects with active involvement in a wide range of productsTake ownership of a commercial Engineering project to see through from order placement to completion (with support from other Engineers)Produce 3D CAD conceptual designs & 2D drawings as requiredRequirementsIdeally studying for either Batchelor or Masterdegree level in an Engineering discipline with significant mechanical Engineering content. (Other STEM subjects could beconsidered)Initiative-taking and enthusiastic, with strong interpersonal skillsPossessing excellent levels of attention to detail and able to shoulder responsibilityMicrosoft packages, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to an intermediate standard.
