About this role
Reporting to the CFO you will be responsible for leading the group’s financial reporting, management accounting and regulatory & compliance obligations, developing and maintaining the accounting control processes and helping develop the ERP system for the group. This position offers a great balance between traditional financial responsibilities and working with the CEO and CFO to develop new reporting, commercial KPIs, systems and processes for a fast-growing business.

Main Responsibilities
The job role will evolve with the rapid growth of the business and this is a great time to embed within the company and grow with it. The role currently oversees all financial operations, including management and financial reporting, AP/AR, cash forecasting, accounting policy, systems and controls:
Management accounts
* Preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for the Board and Senior Management team, with variance analysis and insight into performance and future impact.
* Quarterly preparation of Bank Reporting and Covenant Compliance certificates.
* Use KPI reporting opportunities to provide commercial insight and challenge to the business.
* Ensure accuracy and integrity of all accounting records including monthly balance sheet reconciliations adopting a “mini year-end” policy each month.
* Review and guidance to the finance team during the month-end process and review of key reconciliations and processes performed by the team.
* Responsibility for delivering the year-end audit process.
* Working with auditors to finalise the production of statutory group accounts including year-end schedules and disclosures.
* Working with our tax advisers to ensure corporation tax returns are completed and submitted on a timely basis.
* Preparation of key audit matter papers on technical accounting issues & maintenance of the group accounting policy document.
* Responsibility for ensuring the Group’s VAT returns and any other statutory returns required of the group as necessary.
Cashflow management
* Assist the CFO in management of the Group’s working capital processes including regular review of the weekly short-term cash flow forecast, and regular review of the long-term working capital forecast.
* Treasury management responsibilities to ensure the best return on cash balances.
* Management of the relationship with the company’s operational bank, Barclays. Assisting the CFO with the company’s relationship with its lending bank, Nord/LB.
* Accountable for the accounts payable function and ensuring suppliers are paid on time.
Team management
* Management of 2 x Management Accountants and 1 x Accounts Payable Assistant.
* Development and growth of the team to ensure that the FC role does not become a single point of failure and the team develop in their careers.
* Regular liaison with the Construction Finance Team.
* Proactively identify areas of weakness and work across departments to identify/implement improvements to the accounting and associated systems in accordance with best practice.
* Right hand to the CFO, deputising when necessary, including on ad-hoc projects.
Future projects
* Heavily involved in the scoping and delivery of a new ERP/Finance system within the next 12 months.
* Supporting the CFO in the raising of new bank debt and future equity funding into the Group in particular through due diligence activities.
* Development of enhanced KPI reporting and management accounts reporting with a new finance system.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Experience Required
* ACA or ACCA qualification with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
* Up to date knowledge of technical accounting including FRS102.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Familiarity and experience with implementation and maintenance of a robust financial control framework.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and proven team management capability.
* IT literate with strong ability using Microsoft Excel.
The following experience is not essential, but would be “nice to have”:
* Experience implementing an ERP system.
* Telecommunications or other subscription/SAAS revenue experience or a good understanding of IFRS15.
