Job summary
:
Responsible for processing all prescription orders from patients via EPS or paper prescriptions for GP signing and authorisation. Good organisational and interpersonal skills will be required for the role. The ability to multi task and working to strict timescales will be essential.
The ability to work well with other members of the team and to assist in the training of new staff may also be a requirement of the role. This role will be expected to work afternoons up until 18:30, Monday-Friday.
Main duties of the job
Thesuccessful applicant will be working to agreed protocols for the Practice andthe Medicine Management Team. They will also assist the Medicines Manager withadministrative tasks.

Repeat Prescriptions
Ensure safe issuing of Repeat Prescriptions
Dealing with Prescription queries
Communicating with Pharmacies/Chemists/CareHomes as required (Including Operating the Medicines phone line between 10:00-12:00& 14:00 15:00)
Working closely within the Medicines ManagementTeam and GP Prescribing Lead, Medicine Optimisation Pharmacist and ClinicalPharmacists
Issuing online prescription requests includingvia emails
Processing requests from local Residential/CareHomes
Administrative tasks
Ensuring patient data on the clinical system iscorrect and up to date including Pharmacy preferences
Covering any other administrative work asrequired during periods of annual leave
Assisting in Medicine Management duties as andwhen required.
Mainduties of the job
1. Issue and re-authorise repeat meds ona daily basis, online and paper requests
2. Issue prescriptions from otherClinicians District Nurses, and other clinicians where appropriate
3. Process prescriptions for the NursingHomes.
4. Reduce the level of unwantedmedicines by decreasing the issue of inappropriate prescription items.
5. Synchronise repeat medication.
6. Replacement and ordering of Oxygen
7. Update and order medication forClinical bags and drug cupboard.
8. Develop and enhance communicationssystems on repeat prescribing.
9. Ensure All Medicines ManagementPractice protocols are up to date and in line with statutoryrequirements and directives.
10. Submit the monthly prescriptions to NHSPrescription Services.
11. Attend relevant courses and trainingevents.
12. Run audits
13. Collect data to monitor improvements.
