Electrical Design Engineer

What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the team at Lintott, a Galliford Try business.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the role of the Electrical Design Engineer is primarily to:
* Develop and successfully implement cost-effective control solutions for projects that meet customer needs while adhering to relevant legislation and budget.
* Keep abreast of ever-changing technologies and implement proven technology that offers savings to the business.
* Be responsible for the detailed design, specification, implementation, and FAT testing of the control solution.
* Support Sales in the development of robust, cost-effective control solutions.
* Proactively Value Engineer the solution to identify alternative materials and scope change opportunities while meeting performance, quality, and compliance with Client/statutory standards, codes of practice, and requirements.
* Attend design reviews and submit designs for approval.
* Be on site and responsible for successful site commissioning (Hardware) and SAT testing (Hardware) of the control solution.
* Work within agreed Lintott Control Systems procedures and formats.
* Liaise with all interested departments on receipt of order and attend handover meetings as necessary.
* Maintain a close working relationship with all other departments to establish positive feedback on all contracts to ensure technical patterns are used for future reference.
* Assist with internal process development and identify and remove waste/non-value-added activities. Help maintain and develop procedures and systems to ensure the maintenance of manual and electronic filing systems.
* Assist where necessary in the event of holidays and sickness within the Engineering Team.
* Any other duties agreed from time-to-time with management.
About You:
* 1-3+ years relevant experience in electrical design (hardware) related to either/both MCC (DOL, ASD, Soft Start & VSD design), Switchgear, Control Panel, and LV Distribution/Electrical Installations.
* Competence in working in a Systems Integration Environment, closely working with Software Engineers to develop Functional Design specifications (FDS).
* Specification, design, installation, and commissioning of equipment with internal and/or external resources.
* Knowledge of BS EN 61439, BS EN 60204.
* Qualified to the 18th Edition to BS 7671 wiring regulations.
* Experienced in producing Complex Electrical Schematics, General Arrangement Drawings, and BOM.
* Experience in using AutoCAD Electrical.
