Job Summary
Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Healthcare Scientist to support the Clinical & Radiation Physics Group of the Healthcare Science & Technology Service Line. The post holder will provide PA services to the group leads and deputy whilst providing a range of technical administrative services to the wider team.
Main Duties of the Job
The Clinical and Radiation Physics group provides scientific and technical support services for diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiation protection within the NHS, private and academic sectors. You will be self-motivated and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
A key purpose of the role will be supporting the day-to-day provision of the Personal Dosimetry Service (radiation protection) and other core group administrative tasks (e.g., taking minutes, staff rostering, procurement, recruitment & course bookings). The post holder will also support the programme of calibration/repair of sensitive instrumentation used by the group and wider Trust. You will also support administrative aspects of the quality management system and programme of quality assurance of equipment used in conjunction with medical exposure. Example of equipment supported by the group includes Mammography, Computed Tomography and Interventional Radiology x-ray systems and Gamma Cameras.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
* Previous demonstrable experience in an administration role delivering a wide range of admin tasks.
* Advanced IT skills, including the use of MS Suite, and internet.
* Able to accurately manage, manipulate and report information in multiple formats, e.g., spreadsheets and databases.
* Demonstrable experience in note taking at meetings.
* Previous demonstrable experience in a healthcare setting.
Qualifications:
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above, including Maths, English and Dual Science award or equivalent.
* 2 A levels or equivalent.
* A level or equivalent in science subject at grade C or above.
Aptitude & Abilities:
* Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
* Able to prioritise, manage and plan own workload.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet reasonable deadlines.
* Able to carry out accurate practical measurements.
Disposition, Attitude & Motivation:
* Honesty, integrity, and respect for confidentiality.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Able to work effectively within a team and alone.
