Residential Support Worker

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time
Salary: £25,469.34 – £29,420.26 (DOE)
Hours per Week: 40
Requirements:
* An understanding of the developmental needs (physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and educational) of children and young people.
* An ability to safeguard children and young people.
* Experience of working with children in residential care.
* Level 3 or 4 diploma in working with children or Health & Social Care.
* Ability to work within a team and demonstrate sensitivity and understanding.
* Ability to motivate self and others to meet time and performance goals.
* Ability to deal with emotional stress.
* Flexibility.
* Good interpersonal skills – ability to relate well to others (young people and staff at all levels).
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
* Respond to and meet the identified needs of children/young people as outlined in individual care plans and as agreed with the manager.
* Work in partnership with young people, their families, social workers, and other relevant agencies to meet the needs of young people.
* Ensure that work with children/young people complies with legislative, procedural, and good practice requirements.
* Prioritize the safety and welfare of young people.
* Participate in implementing, monitoring, and reviewing children/young people’s care/health and education plans, contributing to planning meetings and reviews as required.
* Understand and be familiar with all relevant legislation, guidance, policies, and procedures in relation to safeguarding young people.
* Promote the development of a comfortable physical environment conducive to good social care practice, in line with standards and guidance.

Elvet House is a specialist step-down service for children leaving a hospital setting or at risk of admission. We work closely with input from a multi-disciplinary team to support the mental health of children.
