Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency, has a new permanent position available for a Practice Lead Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards within the DoLS & Mental Capacity Act to work full time based in Hull.
The salary for this permanent Practice Lead Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards job is up to £45,441 per annum.
Main duties:
* Compile and produce information to support the Operational DoLS Manager to monitor compliance with the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* Give advice, guidance and mentorship to ensure that through the correct application of the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty process that a person’s Article 5 right to liberty and security and Article 8 right to respect for private and family life, home and correspondence are protected.
* Contribute to the wider strategic workforce plan to ensure that staff are both competent and confident in understanding and applying Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty legislation and good practice.
* As directed, deputise for the Operational DoLS Manager and provides Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberty activity and performance to CST, Adult Social Care Senior Leadership Team, Safeguarding Adults Board, and elected members.
* Provide case studies to evidence how Deprivation of Liberty can make real improvements to people’s wellbeing.
* Design and facilitate briefings and workshops to ensure that a culture of wellbeing and person-centred practice in relation to Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty is embedded across the organisation/external partners and stakeholders. To also ensure that Mental Capacity Act principles are understood and followed when undertaking mental capacity assessments.
* As directed, deputise for the Operational DoLS Manager in representing the local authority as an ‘expert witness’ at court hearings/inquiries, for example, by providing knowledge and understanding in relation to social work professional practice, and give guidance and advice in relation to Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
* Provide formal and informal supervision for Best Interest Assessors.
* Lead on developing, co-ordinating and structuring Best Interest Assessor forums, scrutiny of assessments prior to approval/Supervisory Body Signatory.
* Support the Operational DoLS Manager with the production of an annual review/report that demonstrates the efficiency of the current Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberty process and identified recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements of this Practice Lead Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards role:
* A professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
* Understanding of relevant legislation.
* Registered or eligible for registration.
* Substantial experience in health or social care.
