SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Coventry, CV1 Weekly Take-Home Pay: £395 - £430 Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full Time - Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Contract: Long Term Temp to Perm Long Term Futures for a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The pupil, who is in care and has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), presents with attachment difficulties and requires consistent 1:1 support. Most of the day is spent outside the classroom in a nurture-based setting with structured learning. This role is ideal for someone confident in building trust, de-escalating challenging behaviours, and delivering emotionally informed support to promote progress both academically and emotionally. What We Are Looking For Experience: Supporting children with SEMH, attachment difficulties, and behavioural challenges Previous work with looked-after children (LAC) is desirable Skills & Knowledge: Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and emotion coaching Ability to manage emotional dysregulation and promote resilience Familiarity with nurture-based approaches and strategies to re-engage learners Flexible and adaptable approach to support learning both in and out of the classroom Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential Role Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support, helping the pupil manage emotions and develop resilience Deliver nurture activities and tailored learning support Use emotion coaching techniques to support self-regulation Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and external agencies to meet EHCP targets Encourage positive relationships and support the pupil's social development Adapt learning tasks to suit individual needs and promote engagement About the School Good Ofsted rating with praise for the inclusive and caring environment Small class sizes to support targeted intervention Strong SEN provision with input from external professionals Clear progression routes for long-term staff Why Work with Long Term Futures?
