The post will be full time 37.5 hours per week.
To work with all members of the clinical team within the multidisciplinary framework. The Ward Clerical Officer is an essential part of a Ward Team, helping to streamline the work of the ward, support and help all members of the ward team to provide a quality service.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsibilities include the provision of clerical support to assist the Ward manager or deputy Manager on the admission/transfer and discharge of patients via PAS & Ward View and to provide bed management/ward coordinator with an accurate bed state by updating the white board in real time.
2. To greet and help direct Patients, Relatives, Staff and the general public and manage incoming, non-medical telephone calls as appropriate and deal with them either by delegating or referring calls to other staff or returning calls as necessary, also queries via email.
3. Book porters for transfer of patients/clinical cleans/general maintenance requests using i.serco booking system.
4. Liaise with other departments to request and collect notes that are required for patient care. To be responsible to ensure daily filing of patient notes ready for next day coding also accurate tracking of incoming patient notes.
5. To ensure Electronic Discharge Letters are completed at the time of discharge, to ensure timely filing, ready for coding department.

Job responsibilities
1. To provide clerical support and assist the Ward Manager or their Deputy on the admission/transfer and discharge of patients.
2. To greet and direct all visitors e.g. patients, relatives, Chaplains, to the appropriate member of staff or patient.
3. To update the inpatient diary, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date and correspond with PAS.

Qualifications
* Good general standard of literacy and numeracy
Experience
* Previous clerical work including data input
* Experience in NHS or customer service organisation
