Horspath Pre-School Nursery is nestled in the grounds of Horspath Primary School and has their own separate well-equipped outside play area and nature reserve, providing children between the ages of 2 and 5 years with a high-quality childcare and education tailored to their individual needs.
Working with the Early Years Teachers and room leaders on planning and preparation of activities to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents to ensure effective communication within the nursery.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
1. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent, and visitor at all times, taking reference from the health and safety policy.
2. Providing engaging and purposeful experiences, environments, and resources to children that are appropriate to their age and stage of development.
3. Assisting with the delivery of the Early Years curriculum and being guided by the development matters handbook for child development.
4. Observing and supporting children’s development, updating children’s learning journals with accuracy and relevance, and seeking guidance from colleagues or Room Leader if in doubt.
5. Participating in delivering the highest standards of care throughout the nursery.
6. Working well as part of a team, including the management team.
7. Participating in all relevant training provided by your employer/training provider.
8. Completing all tasks in a timely manner.
9. Working on your own initiative.
10. Completing any housekeeping duties throughout the day (e.g., tea making, washing up, laundry, sweeping, wiping, and mopping).
11. Maintaining high standards of hygiene practices around the nursery.
12. Being an active and self-reflective practitioner and taking responsibility for your own personal development along with the management team.
Entry Requirements
GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4) desirable but not essential.

Training to be Provided
As an Apprentice, you will be working towards a Level 3 qualification in Early Years and Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.

Future Prospects
By the end of your Apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to become a full-time member of staff.
