The successful applicants will assist in the provision of a range of activities for older people and provide a flexible and individualistic personal care service to residents appropriate to their physical, emotional and social care needs. The main responsibilities of the role are:
1. To carry out personal care tasks such as assisting residents with bathing, mobility needs, rising/retiring, toileting and feeding as determined by agreed individual care plans.
2. To assist residents where possible to sustain maximum independence by encouraging them to work with you in the carrying out of domestic tasks such as bed making, tidying of bedrooms and mealtime tasks.
3. To administer medication to residents under the supervision of Management Staff.
4. To work with residents on an individual or group basis encouraging their participation in social, therapeutic and stimulating activities such as reminiscence work, reading, outings.
5. To maintain high standards of care in working with older people with dementia in order that they may achieve their optimum level of personal functioning.
6. To assist with the formulation and review of care plans, maintain written records and other information as required.
7. To undertake as required appropriate courses of training.
8. To work flexible hours on a seven-day rota basis which may include night service.
It is desirable that applicants have the following:
1. Proven paid or voluntary experience of working with older people with dementia in a residential, community or hospital setting.
2. NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards achieving this qualification.
The successful applicant must register with NISCC (without exceptions) and will be subject to an enhanced Access NI check.
Salary Scale: £12.21 per hour
Hours: 42 hours per week on a seven-day rota basis which may include night service

Annual Leave: 21 days (rising to 26 days after 4 years) plus 12 Bank Holidays
