Senior Resuscitation Officer
Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites. Job Overview
The post holder will support the head of resuscitation services with the management of an appropriate resuscitation service across the Trust to ensure compliance with local and National standards.
They will plan, organise, implement, and evaluate training programmes for adult and paediatric basic and advanced life support techniques for all grades of staff.
The senior resuscitation officer will attend emergency calls to develop and maintain their clinical skills, monitor team performance, ensure Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines are adhered to, and provide clinical support and advice during and following resuscitation attempts.
The post holder will lead in the development of resuscitation policies and protocols and the auditing of standards relating to all aspects of resuscitation including clinical equipment used in practice.
They will provide leadership and management support to resuscitation services as required.
Main Duties of the Job
* Ensure that all training is carried out in accordance with current evidence-based resuscitation guidelines.
* Ensure newly appointed medical and nursing staff are offered training in advanced resuscitation methods.
* Assess clinical skills and provide remedial training for those who fail to meet required standards.
* Ensure staff are aware of the Trust's resuscitation policies.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the resuscitation training programme.
* Lead on the dissemination of changes in evidence-based practice relating to resuscitation care.
* Plan and coordinate all administrative work associated with the provision of accredited resuscitation courses.
Person Specification
Requirements
* Must be an APLS instructor
* Must have experience in life-threatening clinical situations
* Must be an ALS instructor
Education and Training
* Current registration with the NMC or HCPC
* Relevant post-graduate course (Critical Care, A&E or similar)
* Evidence of ability to teach resuscitation to multi-professional groups
* APLS/EPALS Instructor
* GIC Instructor
* ALS Instructor
* NLS Instructor
