Job summary We are looking to recruit 2 consultants who are committed to excellence in Geriatrics to join a pro-active team with an excellent clinical reputation in providing a range of services within the hospital and the community. Our consultant team delivers a high quality needs related service to frail and older patients wherever they are. The team uses their knowledge and experience to lead and influence the development of services for the frail and elderly both within the Trust and in the community. You will also have an opportunity to gain valuable experience of service transformation and development. The successful candidates will be joining a well organised department providing a wide range of services at specialty and sub-specialty level. We work together collaboratively and supportively and we are always looking to improve the care for frail, elderly patients across the organisation. Main duties of the job Duties & responsibilities To assist in the provision and development of a safe, effective and efficient geriatrics service and support Trust and Network, in the aim to provide the best possible care to patients Provision of a service, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department Cover for colleagues' authorised absences Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in the consultant on-call rota for General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics Participate in service development and business planning Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally Participating in medical audit, Clinical Governance processes and CPD Managerial, including budgetary responsibilities where appropriate About us We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust providing acute and community healthcare services for 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, Sherwood and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
