Head of Legal
Location - Glasgow, Liverpool or London
You will be working for a very well-respected provider of engineering services. The organisation is UK-based and is a market leader within their field. They are private equity backed by a firm with an exceptional track record. This business is at the forefront of innovation and has exciting growth plans, including tripling in size in the next three years.
You will be responsible for the legal function, as well as being in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment, and you will be a Senior Executive member within the business, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer with regular exposure to the C-suite. You will contribute legally, commercially, and strategically, and be responsible for compliance with all relevant laws, GDPR regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
The Role
* Be the Chief Advisor on any legal, corporate, and compliance matters to support the business.
* Develop and implement the company's legal strategy in alignment with its overall objectives, monitor legal developments, and proactively advise on any potential impact on the business.
* Manage legal risk and provide first-class support across a broad range of issues including commercial contracting, technology, corporate, regulatory, compliance, and data privacy.
* Work closely with the Head of M&A with a corporate focus.
Experience/Qualifications
* England & Wales or Commonwealth qualified lawyer with 8+ years PQE as a guideline.
* Experience in dealing with senior stakeholders and external counsel; experience within the engineering sector (construction will also be considered) is ideal.
* Extensive experience with corporate law; prior experience as a corporate associate in private practice is desirable.
* Familiarity with working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and managing complex legal matters while providing strategic advice to senior executives.
* Experience implementing new processes, such as legal and compliance training programs, along with a growth mindset, good commercial acumen, and a pragmatic approach in a complex business environment.
