Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a partnership secondary school in the Newport area for a Learning Support Assistant. The successful candidate will support learners with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and other additional needs. While experience in a school setting is not essential, candidates must have a natural affinity with children and demonstrate transferable skills.
This is a full-time position beginning January 13th, 2025. The salary ranges from £400-£450 per week (dependent on experience).
Details:
- Learning Support Assistant supporting pupils ages 11-16 with additional learning needs
- Hours: 08:20 - 15:10 (Mon-Fri) - term time only
- £400 - £450 weekly pay
- School based in Newport (NP19)
- Contract intitally until August 2025, with the option to join the school permanently from September.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience (personal or professional) supporting young people
- Be highly organized with excellent communication skills
- Have a desire to work with, inspire, and support children
- Have good behaviour management skills
- Have experience supporting children or adults with additional needs such as ASC
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher and other teaching assistants in the daily running of the class
- Support children during lessons and school activities
- Manage challenging behaviours
- Deliver one-to-one or small group activities
- Collect evidence of children's work to support their assessment
