Role Overview:
Coordinate and oversee the delivery of the Specialist Tier 2 Adult Learning Disabilities Weight Management Programme across Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich, ensuring equitable service provision in each borough. Responsible for participant recruitment, ensuring engagement from adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities, their carers, and support networks while promoting accessibility and inclusivity.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Deliver a High-Quality and Effective Weight Management Service
* Facilitate participant enrolment, ensuring eligible adults with learning disabilities are registered onto the programme while recording and reporting ineligible referrals for discussion in quarterly steering group meetings.
* Conduct 1:1 initial assessments with participants and their carers, assessing their needs, abilities, and readiness for change.
* Deliver engaging and accessible nutrition and physical activity sessions across Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich, ensuring content is tailored to the needs of adults with learning disabilities.
* Contribute to the development and adaptation of session content, ensuring materials are evidence-based, culturally appropriate, and inclusive of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.
* Support the planning and delivery of programme-related events for service users and partner organisations, fostering engagement and knowledge-sharing.
Staffing and Venue Coordination
* Support the recruitment, onboarding, and administration of casual staff and community venues to ensure the effective delivery of the weight management programme.
* Recruiting and onboarding casual staff to support with the delivery of the programme.
* Ensure all venues have the necessary resources and equipment before each programme cohort begins, including projectors, weighing scales, printed handouts, and other session materials.
* Manage procurement and financial administration, including raising purchase orders for equipment and venue payments.
* Conduct and document risk assessments for all programme venues prior to delivery, ensuring accessibility, safety, and suitability for participants with learning disabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement and Programme Promotion
* Engage with key stakeholders, including public health teams, healthcare professionals, learning disability services, and community organisations across Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich to maximise referrals and collaboration.
* Actively participate in staff meetings (such as Enable team meetings, quarterly monitoring meetings and steering group meetings) to share best practice and develop thinking, knowledge and learning.
* Present and promote the programme to health professionals, and other relevant bodies to increase referrals, such as ‘Lunch & Learn’ meetings to GP practices.
* Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop and implement a promotional strategy, ensuring accessible and inclusive materials are created, including press releases, social media campaigns, and printed resources tailored to the needs of adults with learning disabilities.
Safeguarding
* Identify and report any client safeguarding concerns following Enables policies and procedures.
* Liaise with referrers and relevant professionals when required, providing recommendations and collaborating on safeguarding concerns.
* Proactively report safeguarding risks and concerns to health professionals and line management, following established multi-agency safeguarding policies and procedures in accordance with Enable’s policy.
Monitoring, Reporting and Data Management
* Maintain accurate and timely data entry on referrals, assessments, and programme participation, ensuring records comply with data protection regulations and contractual reporting requirements.
* Analyse and utilise data to improve programme impact, ensuring that evidence-based service adjustments are made in response to trends and participant feedback.
* Ensure completion of required monitoring tools, including ONS4, PAQ, and end-of-programme feedback questionnaires, contributing to service evaluation and improvement.
* Support ongoing service development by contributing to quality improvement initiatives, sharing best practices, and actively participating in staff training, team meetings, and service reviews.
Skills and Experience:
* Knowledge & awareness of relevant national, regional and local policies and initiatives within health, physical activity, public health and weight management, particularly as they relate to adults with learning disabilities.
* Holds an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in public health, nutrition or dietetics to demonstrate expertise. Registered with a governing body, such as the Association for Nutrition (AfN) or British Dietetic Association (BDA) (essential)
* Holds a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training or Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral – Required for working with specific populations, such as individuals with health conditions (essential).
* Holds a Level 4 Specialist Exercise Instructor Qualification (desirable).
* Knowledge and understanding of the benefits of physical activity and the barriers to engagement, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion for individuals with learning disabilities.
* Knowledge of weight management and behaviour change models, emphasising a person-centered approach that aligns with NICE guidelines and best practices in learning disability support.
* Familiarity of the Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich areas, including local community organisations and services that support adults with learning disabilities (desirable).
* Experience in delivering weight management or lifestyle behaviour change programmes, ideally within a multi-component framework that includes physical activity, healthy eating, and behaviour change strategies.
* A customer-focused approach, ensuring that service users, carers, and stakeholders receive a high-quality, inclusive, and accessible experience, aligned with best practices in weight management and learning disability support.
* Commitment to own professional and personal development and willingness to undertake training and development as appropriate to the role.
* Flexibility; able to work at multiple locations, and work hours required by post including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank/public holidays.
