This important role in our dynamic Food and Safety team protects the public and stimulates business confidence in Babergh and Mid Suffolk. About the role As Food and Safety Manager, you will support the Head of Public Protection and the Service to deliver effective outcomes in relation to service plans and corporate priorities/outcomes. Specific areas of responsibility will include: line Manager for the Food and Safety Team, planning and directing work for regulatory work mainly involving food safety, health and safety, and animal licensing etc supports the Head of Service in leading on the continuing development and deployment of professional and technical expertise in a specific area, whilst actively managing an operational service through Operational Delivery keeping up to date with changes and innovations in their field and translating their knowledge and expertise into supporting innovative service delivery coordinate the inspection, regulation and as appropriate enforcement of all requirements as required to fulfil the council’s statutory duties in food safety, occupational health and safety, licensing, infectious disease control and other related areas of work, and provide professional and technical advice and support for the two district councils in respect of those areas of work contribute to business and performance management support of the Public Protection Service as well as to other services using appropriate case and performance management software continuous review and improvement of service delivery which may include project management and implementation of new approaches and processes. About you We are looking for a senior professional, educated to degree or diploma level in Environmental Health and demonstrating a significant level of experience as an Environmental Health Practitioner with Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) and/or Chartered Status. To be successful, you will: hold a management qualification or have gained equivalent managerial/leadership experience have demonstrable experience of professional/technical expertise in Food Safety, and Health and Safety Regulation have directly and effectively contributed technical and/or professional expertise to a significant initiative or project be proactive in identifying areas of priority before they impact on service delivery and able to demonstrate a high degree of initiative in managing multiple workstreams and workloads have an attitude and approach that allows for flexibility to contribute and respond to changing corporate priorities.
