A co-educational private day and boarding school located in Hampshire, catering for 600 pupils and teachers from nursery to 18 years. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, lunch, supper, morning snack & afternoon snack. This is a term-time only contract working 38 weeks a year with nursery operations for 52 weeks. This is a 7-day operation, so working pattern will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefit is free parking on site.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious contracts in Hook.
Role requirements (Tasks & Responsibilities):
* Serve clients during breakfast, lunch, or dinner service.
* Help set up the dining room for service.
* Prepare food for service, following good hygiene and safety practices.
* Ensure the kitchen is left clean and tidy to the required standard.
* Clear, clean, and store away any food, beverage, or equipment required for special functions.
* Restock and replenish stocks and consumables during service periods.
* Operate cleaning and dishwashing equipment, ensuring proper cleaning and storage.
* Complete all necessary cleaning and hygiene duties.
* Interact and acknowledge all customers and client staff.
General Responsibilities:
* Ensure adherence to all policies and procedural requirements.
* Wear the correct uniform neatly and cleanly.
* Carry out necessary checks for food temperatures.
* Carry out all reasonable requests of management.
* Report any hazards to the manager.
Key personal skills and attributes:
* Previous experience in a catering environment.
* Experience of serving customers within a catering establishment.
* Team working abilities, listening skills, and the ability to work on own initiative.
* Impeccable personal presentation and hygiene.
* Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
* Ability to manage moderately heavy lifting and carrying.
Knowledge / competencies:
* Good understanding and use of verbal English.
* Good standard of written English and reading skills.
* Similar experience in customer and/or food preparation environment preferred.
