What you'll be doing?
Barratt Redrow, Homes England and Lloyds Banking Group joined forces as co-investors to establish MADE Partnership.
MADE Partnership acts as a master developer, managing the development of large-scale projects, taking responsibility for the overall vision and strategy, and coordinating the wide range of stakeholders involved. It assembles the land, manages the planning, installs the primary and community infrastructure, disposes of serviced parcels of land to homebuilders, and ensures robust long-term stewardship is put in place.
In this role you’ll work as part of the Group Major Projects team – the specialist master developer unit within Barratt Redrow Developments which manages the MADE Partnership business on behalf of the investors. We have a pipeline of projects ready to mobilise into delivery.
As Project Management Director, you will contribute to the overall success of Group Major Projects by securing alternative sources of growth for the business including major and complex projects, partnerships and joint ventures. To take responsibility for projects by progressing them through planning and delivery of the site wide elements to providing serviced land parcels for housebuilding and disposals to others where necessary. To work closely with the Group Major Projects Director and Management Team, ensuring that projects take all business variables into account.
You will be expected to:
Strategic Planning & Oversight
* Working closely with the Director team, lead the overall project delivery strategy, ensuring alignment with Major Projects vision and goals for master development.
* Develop and implement comprehensive project plans covering timelines, resources, risk management, and quality assurance.
* Work closely with the team to define project objectives and KPIs.
Project Execution & Delivery:
* Manage the life cycle of development projects through the mobilisation and on-site delivery phase through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
* Coordinate with various internal teams, consultants and contractors, to ensure smooth project execution.
* Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Management
* Serve as point of contact for external stakeholders, including government agencies, investors, contractors, consultants, and other partners.
* Facilitate effective communication and decision-making processes between stakeholders to ensure project success.
Team Leadership
* Ensure the project management team is fully resourced and well-directed, with clear guidelines to their own job responsibilities, and are provided with full support in achieving these, in terms of communication, training and development, and the organisation of the function’s workload.
* Foster a high-performance culture within the project management team, ensuring continuous development and collaboration.
* Report as appropriate to the Group Major Projects Director in line with the agreed format and schedules including timely and accurate production of Board Reports.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
* Oversee project budgets and financial performance, ensuring cost controls and profitability across the development portfolio.
* Work with finance teams to manage funding, cash flows, and financial reporting.
Compliance & Risk Management
* Ensure all projects comply with company requirements, regulations, legal requirements, industry standards.
* Develop and maintain risk management protocols, identifying potential issues before they escalate.
Innovation & Best Practice
* Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable development practices to incorporate into project strategies.
* Continuously improve project management processes and tools for efficiency and effectiveness.
Leadership
* Promote and act in accordance with Group values, systems, policies and procedures.
What you'll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
* Demonstrable effective experience of operating, in a similar role in a major organisation.
* Experience of leading and managing large scale projects with multiple key stakeholders.
* Knowledge of key stakeholders - business contacts, landowners, developers, Homes England, Government departments/agencies, Housing Associations, environmental organisations.
* Ideally qualified to degree standard in a relevant subject and possessing membership of a Professional Institute.
* Excellent technical knowledge and appreciation of other disciplines within the business.
* A sound legal knowledge to facilitate work in relation to master development.
* Innovative and creative approach to any issues. Able to develop techniques to improve performance, achieve targets and increase the value of the business.
* A good decision maker.
* Commercial awareness of the key role of the Major Projects function and the operational impact within the wider business. Able to identify issues which will have significant impact on the business and to ensure that matters are resolved in a timely manner and at the appropriate level.
* Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills; a confident and professional networker.
* A resilient individual who has the ability to interact at a senior level.
* A strong and inclusive leader focused on managing, coaching and developing the Major Projects team to achieve the functions full potential.
