Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Overview of role
Mott MacDonald are currently seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join our growing energy team in Europe. Duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to:
1. To undertake and manage the day to day operations in respect of the following key areas:
o Civil and Structural design and specification in the areas of earthworks, ground analysis / investigation, pipework / equipment supports, site roadways, drainage, reinforced concrete foundations / bases for buildings and structural steel analysis.
o Pipeline design including settlement and stability calculations.
o Approval In Principle (AIP) generation.
o Production, review and approval of civil / structural reports, drawings and calculations.
2. Coordinate the delivery of the project tasks and deliverables within tight deadlines and multidisciplinary environment.
3. Instruct CAD designers and engineers with regards to civil design.
4. Work closely with and provide professional advice on Civil / Structural matters to relevant client personnel.
5. Attend design meetings and site visits.
6. Provide technical support for bid preparations.
7. Thorough and conscientious checking of own and others work.
8. Identify business development opportunities with both internal and external clients and raise the profile of the business both internally and externally.
9. Undertake own continuing professional development and support the development of others.
10. Operate in accordance with the corporate health and safety, environment and quality standards.
11. Work may require travel in the UK or abroad to offices and / or sites.
Candidate Specification
Essential
* A degree in a Civil Engineering discipline.
* Chartered Membership of a professional institution.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of Eurocodes and international design codes, standards and specifications.
* UK Gas Industry experience
* Proven track record in coordinating and delivering project activities.
* Ability to work on own initiative on technical and business matters and manage their own time and that and others.
* Ability to mentor, support and develop junior staff.
Desirable
* Cadent / National Gas G17/35 Civil Appraiser or Approve
