Job Purpose
As a Gas Service and Breakdown Engineer, you will be responsible for attending service and reactive breakdowns, fault finding, diagnosing, and repairing heating systems in a timely and cost-effective manner. Using your expertise, you will ensure a high level of first-time fix rates and excellent customer service.
Key Requirements
Minimum of 2 years' experience in heating service breakdowns and/or installations.
Background in plumbing is desirable.
Gas qualifications essential (cookers and fires desirable).
LPG and OFTEC registration desirable but not essential.
Experience with unvented pressurised hot water cylinders and vented systems desirable.
Strong knowledge of heating system installation, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience working in occupied residential and social housing.
Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency services.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Valid full clean UK driving licence.
Flexible approach to working hours and locations.
Willingness to stay updated with the latest heating technology and industry standards.
Ability to work at height and in confined spaces (full training provided).
Key Responsibilities
Carry out day-to-day responsive maintenance, servicing, and repairs.
Ensure all paperwork is accurately recorded and uploaded to Commusoft.
Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines and company policies.
Maintain a professional company image through personal presentation and van upkeep.
Wear company uniform and use appropriate PPE at all times.
Support contract work if required when no private work is available.
Manage van stock efficiently to ensure right-first-time solutions.
