Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs specialized technical duties, with guidance from the Technical Manager, related to the support of local area networks, wide area networks, and the equipment supporting connectivity throughout the organization. Responsible for the overall maintenance and support of network equipment such as VPN access, remote access servers, wireless connectivity, switches, circuits, controllers, gateways, wiring closets, fiber cabling, racks, power units, wireless telecommunication, server management, etc. The position addresses connectivity, configuration, and security issues, providing technical support to the Help Desk staff and serving as backup for server and database management. It requires knowledge of various networking technologies, understanding of logical network structures, and software/application management. The role emphasizes delivering network solutions with high customer service and adherence to the Service Excellence Program.
Qualifications
* Ability for abstract reasoning and explaining complex concepts clearly.
* Empathy towards individuals of diverse backgrounds and roles within the hospital.
* Effective communication skills, tactfulness, patience, and meticulousness in implementation.
* Ability to analyze and resolve complex hardware, software, system, and network problems.
* Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
* Commitment to compliance with STHS’s policies, Code of Conduct, and reporting procedures.
Education / Licensure
* Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in CS, CIS, or related fields with emphasis on Networking or Programming, or demonstrated leadership in supporting large networks.
* At least 2 years of experience with network connectivity, operating systems, application management; database/server maintenance is a plus. Certifications like CCNA or MCSE are desirable.
* Knowledge of various network architectures, protocols, tools, and equipment.
* Experience supporting complex networks including Active Directory, wireless, VLANs, WANs, and multiple LANs.
* Understanding of personal computer hardware, network peripherals, and troubleshooting skills.
* Experience managing or leading projects.
* Proficiency with computer software such as Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Inventory, and Database applications.
