Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our waste vehicle fleet, carrying out repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of waste collection vehicles, including HGVs and specialist equipment.
* Perform diagnostics to identify and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
* Carry out inspections to ensure compliance with DVSA standards.
* Attend to breakdowns and conduct roadside repairs when required.
* Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards within set timelines.
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
* Work collaboratively with the workshop team to maintain operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
* Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to solve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
* Knowledge and experience of working on waste vehicles (desirable but not essential).
* HGV Class 2 license (preferred but not mandatory).
* Ability to work independently and within a team.
* A proactive and professional approach to problem-solving.
