Purpose of the role: The Capacity, Release, and Deployment Manager is an integral member of the Network Service Management team, specializing in the strategic and operational aspects of Capacity Management, as well as the orchestration of Release and Deployment activities within the department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the network’s capacity aligns with the dynamic service demands, guaranteeing optimal performance and service delivery. Accountabilities Capacity Management: Oversee the entire Capacity Management process, ensuring the network infrastructure is scaled to meet service requirements efficiently. Provide authoritative guidance on capacity planning, demand forecasting, and resource optimization. This includes: Ensuring there is sufficient capacity to meet service level targets. Provide capacity requirements for new or modified network services. Maintain an overall understanding of current service capacity and trends. Keep Technology management team informed about capacity needs. Ensure that performance testing is carried out on new and modified network services. Work to proactively provide sufficient network capacity. Produce and maintain a Capacity Plan. Ensure that capacity-related incidents and problems are addressed. Ensure the creation, maintenance, and use of a Capacity Management Information System (CMIS) Assess the capacity impact of new change requests. Participate on the Change Advisory Board (CAB) as needed. Monitor network capacity levels, compare actual levels against targets, and address shortfalls. Release Management: Spearhead the Release Management process, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless and timely delivery of network updates and enhancements. This includes managing release schedules, overseeing the development of release plans, and ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards. Deployment Management: Direct the Deployment Management activities, from planning and scheduling to the successful implementation of network changes. Ensure that deployment plans are robust, compliant with organizational standards, and executed with minimal disruption to services. Advisory Role: Act as a consultant to the Network Service Manager, recommending appropriate service levels and options to meet current and future business needs. Qualifications Essential Skills: Experience-Based Knowledge: Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience, particularly in capacity management, release, and deployment within IT or network operations environments. ITIL Proficiency: Strong knowledge of ITIL principles and processes (certification not required). Process-Driven Management: Demonstrated ability to manage activities and processes, with experience in structured roles such as Network Operations, Governance, or Reporting within IT. Analytical Expertise: Proven experience building capacity models, creating forecasting plans, and conducting in-depth analysis. Cross-Functional Collaboration: A history of successful results through collaborative work across various teams or functions. Strategic Planning Insight: Understanding of strategic planning, validation methods, and industry best practices. Service Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) Familiarity: Working knowledge of the SDLC and its application to capacity and release management. Project Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage projects and effectively present findings to stakeholders. Desirable Skills: Professional Experience: Background as a Network Service Manager or in ITIL-focused management across large-scale environments. Certification and Knowledge: ITIL v3/v4 certification, CompTIA Network, and familiarity with ISO 27001 standards. Technical Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (preferred, not required).
