PSR Rail are looking for a Design Co-ordinator to assist a Design Manager on a busy contract in Bristol. You must have previous Civils and Earthworks experience. If you have worked for a tier 1 construction company, this will be beneficial.
Summary of Role
Reporting to the Design Manager for a Geotechnical and off-track drainage contract on the Railway. Responsible for day-to-day coordination and tracking of design activities and deliverables. Assisting the Design Manager in compliance with the Design Management team and BIM plan and the Design Management Procedure.
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Compliance with Design Management Procedures
Understand the requirements of ISO 9001 with respect to design.
Be familiar with tools and procedures and their application to achieve ISO 9001 compliance.
Comply with project-specific Design Management Plan and revise same periodically.
Control and track design change using the Design Manager's Toolkit.
Implement company and client's design assurance procedures.
2. Behavioural Leadership
Apply the principles of the Design Management Best Practice Guide to assist the Design Manager to foster a collaborative relationship between design and production teams.
Maintain all design project documentation up to date where required by the Design Manager.
3. Technical Oversight
Be familiar with the technical requirements of the project.
Facilitate technical coordination between disciplines and suppliers.
Attend design coordination meetings, take notes, and update all trackers as necessary following the meeting. Deliverable tracker, TQ tracker, RFI Tracker, IDCR tracker, etc.
Attend IDCs, take notes, and chase up actions to close out.
Chase down responses to TQs and other design queries.
Compile design packs for onward inclusion in construction contracts.
Check compliance with client deliverable requirements and keep record/tracker updated.
Coordinate all incoming information from designers, ensure design packs are complete for submission to the client.
Collate incoming survey information, check completeness, and issue to designers as needed.
Ensure site and commercial teams have access and are issued with the most recent design documentation.
4. Legislative Compliance
Assist the Design Manager in updates to CDM plans.
5. Design for Health and Safety
Assist the Design Manager where needed to check for compliance with client guidance of designing for H+S.
6. Commercial and Contract Admin (With appropriate support from commercial staff):
Assist DM in assessing work complete to inform period application for payment from design suppliers.
7. BIM
Work with BIM / Doc control team to ensure project documentation is at correct project status and assist the BIM team where new information is incoming and needs uploading to CDE.
Review designers' documentation incoming for completeness with BIM requirements and respond to BIM queries from the BIM team.
