This is a unique opportunity to work within a team which manages our primary care litigation work from NHS Resolution and other defendant clinical negligence clients. The case load will also include claims against NHS Trusts. Our Health team can genuinely say it is award winning, having received major recognition over the last few years, most recently being named as Public Sector Legal Advisor of the Year at the HealthInvestor Awards. Key responsibilities: To run a caseload of clinical negligence files to include: Drafting reports Interviewing witnesses Drafting witness statements Instructing experts Instructing counsel Attend Court for Case Management Conferences and Application Hearings Negotiating settlements. Holding conferences with Counsel. Preparing for and attending trials and mediations. Additional duties : Cover secondments to NHS Resolution Assist colleagues in the running of higher value claims. Draft articles for clients Cover free advice clinics at local hospital Trusts. Give client training and presentations. Build and maintain client and internal relationships, adhering to both internal and external operating procedures. Contribute to business development by seek new business opportunities. Having a wider contribution to the Health business group and wider Firm by continually seeking ways to improve. Supervision of colleagues work and supporting development of the team by appropriate delegation and coaching. What are we looking for: Important criteria: Qualified Solicitor or equivalent It would be beneficial for you to have some of the following: Defendant Clinical negligence experience at a NHSR Panel firm MDO experience is preferred but not essential Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team, in the office and remotely. Demonstrates an understanding of clients’ needs/expectations. Adheres to guidelines and client protocols/KPIs. Proactive pragmatic approach with focus on quality Excellent attention to detail Excellent organisational and communication skills An appreciation of client data security requirements.
