Full-Time Fixed Term Post (Maternity Cover) - 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic individual Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team. The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales, and the Isle of Man. We invite applications for a WTE fixed term post within the spinal cord injury/neurological rehabilitation therapy team.
The candidate will need to be an experienced occupational therapist clinician who has had experience working with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions. There are excellent opportunities for personal development, support, and clinical supervision from experienced Occupational Therapists.
Key Duties
* To assess and treat patients within the ward or Community setting.
* To assist Clinical Therapy Manager/Team Leader in service development and the provision of a quality service.
* To take responsibility for junior members of staff and delegate duties as necessary, providing appropriate support.
* To meet the Therapy and Community and Continued Care Service objectives.
* To cover for absence when required within the Community and Departments of Southport & Ormskirk Hospital Trust.
* To take part in the weekend rota if applicable.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
* To assess and identify the individual needs of patients and their carers, planning and implementing appropriate treatment programmes.
* To record and report findings appropriately following the standard procedures.
* To share skills/knowledge with other disciplines and patient/carers.
* To liaise with hospital/community-based staff to ensure continuity of treatment.
* To ensure treatments offered to patients are based on the best available clinical evidence.
* To attend ward rounds, case conferences, and goal planning meetings.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* To maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation.
* To be responsible for a designated area of work and plan efficiently with regard to patient management.
* To comply with organisational policies and procedures.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
* To provide professional practice education of O.T. students on placement.
* To ensure continued professional development.
