Southend Medical Centre has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our friendly practice, supporting the team and assisting in the smooth delivery of excellent patient care. This role is offered on a full time basis, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are allocated on a monthly basis so the successful individual must be available during surgery opening times, 0800-1830. In this front-line role at the practice, our medical receptionists (known as care navigators) help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed. The main responsibilities of the role include; Greeting and directing all patients. Making appointments. Accepting and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc. Dealing with requests for information and managing problems and complaints, along with advising patients of Practice procedures. Answering the telephone promptly and politely whilst maintaining high levels of patient focus. About the Candidate The candidate will have the following skills and experience; Excellent communication and organisational skills. Good telephone manner. Computer literate. Work successfully as part of a team. Work under pressure whilst always maintain confidentiality. General practice experience is an advantage. Knowledge of SystmOne is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
