We are seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist to join our existing site-specialist multidisciplinary teams in the field of GI Cancers. This is a fixed-term post for 6 months based at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the Barts Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will join a well-established medical oncology team and play a key role in developing cancer services across the Trust. The posts offer an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and welcoming consultant team, and to develop new models of care/services that support the people in north-east London and beyond.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. This post is advertised as a full-time 10 PA position a reduced timetable would need to be requested prior to appointment for consideration by the Clinical Director.

Job responsibilities
To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high-quality evidence-based Medical Oncology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with Trust / Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Barts Cancer Centre (BCC). Liaison and communication with the Clinical Academic Group Director and General Manager and with the Deputy Director of Operations of BCC.
To develop his/her own interests and specialties within oncology, including active participation in research programmes.
To have corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.

Qualifications
Essential
* Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration/ or entry into the specialist register within 6 months of the interview)
* Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
* Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
* CESR
* MRCP/ FRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification and/or experience
Desirable
* Higher research degree (MD, PhD, MD (Res))
* Accredited Educational Supervisor
* Other qualifications which might enhance the provision of the service e.g. Teaching qualification, management qualification

* Have experience in the management of resources
* Broad based knowledge of and understanding of Medical Oncology, including chemotherapy and the principles of palliative care
