Vacancy: Production Planner Location: Royston, UK Job Family: Supply Chain As the Production Controller you will be responsible for providing outstanding service and supply chain expertise for the Fine Chemicals - Chemical Products (Fine Chem/ProCat) operation within the PGMS UK business. The main focus of the role is to develop a clear understanding of the Chemical Products production process, using IT and data, to drive an efficient and effective flow of materials through the Supply Chain, with the aim of satisfying customer requirements and controlling PGM inventory. Your responsibilities: • EHS, Quality, and Security: Prioritize and uphold Environmental, Health, and Safety principles, ensuring best practices are consistently followed. • Supply Chain Delivery: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the chemical products supply chain; analyse production and demand data to set schedules, manage the Master Production Schedule with cross-functional teams, and maintain efficient supply chain processes to meet customer expectations. • Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective relationships with manufacturing, engineering, and sales teams to align on supply chain requirements, ensure adherence to production plans, and communicate any delays or issues promptly. • S&OP and Inventory Management: Support the Sales and Operations Planning process by analysing demand plans and capacity; manage inventory profiles to identify slow-moving items and develop action plans to reduce stock levels. • LEAN and Continuous Improvement: Act as a D3 super user and local expert; develop and maintain standard work operations, implement LEAN methodologies to drive cultural and financial improvements, and collaborate with counterparts to enhance cross-functional processes. • Team Development: Collaborate with supply chain and management teams to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, fostering a culture of continuous development. Requirements for the role: • A passion for Information technology and ability to learn (extensive training will be provided) • Experience in a Production Control/Supply Chain role • High attention to detail with organisational and planning skills • Ability to build strong working relationships with other functional teams • Good communication skills - verbal, written • A willingness to learn and have an awareness of business and commercial issues.
