We're looking for a passionate and capable leader to step into the role of Kaitaataki/Team Leader at Te Kaahu Whare. This is a key leadership position where you’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the whare, ensuring our tangata receive top-quality support around the clock. You’ll be fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment and helping tangata live with confidence, independence, and choice.
Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be doing:
* Overseeing lifestyle plans for tangata under Te Oranga Pumau, ensuring everything aligns with the required standards and legislation.
* Working closely with tangata and their whanau, making sure their support is tangata-centred and promotes their wellbeing.
* Supporting and developing our kaimahi, helping them grow with training and coaching to be the best they can be.
* Taking charge of operational management—keeping resources on track, addressing any issues, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
* Driving initiatives to continually improve the quality of care and services we provide.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with tangata, whanau, iwi, hapū, and external providers to ensure great collaboration.
* Leading health and safety efforts to ensure a safe and compliant environment for everyone.
Ko wai koe | About You
You’re a natural leader who knows how to guide and support a team, creating a positive environment where everyone can thrive. Your strong understanding of Tikanga Maori and how it applies in the whare is key, and you’re great at building relationships with tangata, whanau, and kaimahi. When challenges come up, you handle them with ease and make solid decisions under pressure. You’ve got experience managing resources and ensuring everything runs smoothly, keeping things to a high standard.
NgĠpūkenga me ngĠwheako | Skills and Experience
Experience Required:
* 3+ years in community healthcare, disability support services, or a similar field.
* Experience working with tangata with high and complex needs.
* Proven experience in team management.
Qualifications:
* Level 4 NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent).
* Full NZ Driver’s License.
* Ability to work rotating rosters, including weekends and public holidays.
